Web Site Workshop
An introduction to using MindManager 6 or 7 Pro or 8 to create web sites.

The one hour session covers the process that MindManager uses to produce web sites from MindManager maps. At the end of the session you will be aware of the

- Elements of a map that convert into a web site or page.
- Various templates in the package
- Opportunities for basic customisation
- Advanced customisation and maybe the need to involve specialists

You will also get some important tips on how to format maps to be effective on the web.

Andrew trained me on web export from MindManager using screen sharing and Skype. This is a really cost-effective, energy efficient and time-saving way to meet and share material, and I can't recommend the approach highly enough.

Web export is an area that I'd only dabbled in, despite several years' intensive use of MindManager and around 500 mind maps, most produced in customer situations including live meetings. The training provoked lots of ideas, and I'm still discovering new ways to use the tools and techniques that we discussed. MindManager can bring ideas from your head to the web quickly, in an organised way, and then give you the power to maintain, revise and refresh your ideas with economy of effort and time. Andrew can get you there sooner!

My Background

I produce several web pages every week and at least a 10-20 page web site a month using MindManager. This is not my core activity but it is how I promote myself and others, and share my knowledge on the web. I have just republished my business web site Cabre using MindManager and an add in called Map4Web.

A recent web site is a MINDLOG which is similar to a WEBLOG. It's aim is to continuously add to the knowledge I share with MindManager users.

This site went from idea to promoting it to my inner circle of MindManager users in about two hours.

MindManager is very effective at going from the ideas stage of a web site all the way through to publication. In MindManager you focus on structure and content first, then choose a template, edit the options and publish. Its that simple. No need to edit a single line of HTML. MindManager deals with the construction of headers and footers, the indexing and linking of the pages. This is a very rapid web site creation tool.

This outline of the event will be turned in to a web site during the session to demonstrate MindManager's capability.

I have learnt many of the nuances of using MindManager for web site production e.g. using tables in topic notes for the web page layout. In the workshop you will explore the basic rules and standard customisation e.g. putting your email address in the footer and changing the logo. You will be made aware of the more advanced features: Cascading Style Sheets, Macros and HTML Templates which can be edited to optimise the web site for your situation. You can easily subcontract these elements to a web site designer.
