Author Topic: Roll-up in MM8 versus functionality of JCVGantt  (Read 5268 times)

Can I get JCVGantt 3.3 to produce what it says on the tin, i.e. a Gantt Chart? Currently I think having retained MM 7.1 and JCV Gantt 3 on a Tablet PC is a very wise move.

As a JCVGantt user I do not see the point of roll-up being implemented in MM8.  I do see the point for people that have not JCVGantt, and it was great before I reloaded the latter.  As I have that, it would do all the planning stuff I need in harness with MM8 in "pure" mapping mode.  Can I turn off roll-up in MM8?

I have MindManager 8.0.217 and JCVGantt 3.3.0.3   I can find no evidence of the Roll Up function in MindManager.

Can you see a Roll Up in MindManager Properties (ed. Sorry Options) - Add-Ins?

I am on the same versions of each as you quote.

From past use, before I reinstalled JCVGantt, the roll-up of tasks, producing times/dates and just about everything but a timeline/chart, was automatic in MM8 as downloaded.  You know the circumstances, some months ago.  Now, I may be mistaken, but I thought that the reason for writing it into MindManager must have been to give it as much project functionality as possible in itself.  From that perspective, it seemed that the ease of switching to JCVGantt view to which I was used with MM7 must have been impaired in MM8 by the fact that part of the job was being done MM-wise - perhaps a bit differently from how JCVGantt does it.

My standpoint is that if one has JCVGantt, that's where the planning will be done, and therefore part of it is not necessary in MM8, and if it is in any way inhibited by MM8 it would be good to get that to stop it.  On the other hand, I may have the wrong end of the stick.

Where do I look for MindManager Properties Add-Ins?  I have searched and cannot find that.  But why should Roll Up be listed as an Add-In when it was shipped in the download originally?

Under that big button top left.

When you get to the Add Ins you will see many of them.

Untick the ones you don't use and MindManager may run a bit faster.

D'oh!  Not Properties then. MindManager -> Options -> Add Ins, where indeed there is no mention of Roll Up. Not surprised really, as I said, it is part and parcel of MM8 rather than Add In.

I have unticked a couple of things as they relate to other software, "which in our case, we have not got". If that saves MM8 the time of not finding them, it'll be to the good.  Smiley
