MindManager comes with PDF-XChange and some users upgrade to the full version like Steve Rothwell.  Before MindManager had a PDF printer I choose the Fineprint and PDF Factory Pro combination.  This allows me to print multiple maps to a single sheet e.g. 4 x A5s to an A3 sheet and to print several maps into one PDF document.

Regardless of the PDF printer you use make sure you have the right graphics resolution settings.    Typically a map will be fitted to an A4 sheet or Letter sheet.  If the settings are 96dpi and 75% jpg compression, on many maps the smaller text in the sub topics will appear fuzzy.  It will not get better zooming to 150% or 200%.  The more topics and text on a map the smaller the printed font size on the sheet.

Frequently I change the settings to 300 dpi and 95% compression.  This will be better for your readers and certainly for printing.  It will produce larger file sizes.

Andrew,

Following an 'enhancement' to our systems here at work, I appear to have lost the ability to create PDFs from my MindManager maps.

This is probably just another draconian/paranoid removal of access to anything I might actually want to use to do my job  Angry but before I start a battle with our IT guys, is there any way of checking my MindManager set-up? (like when the export icon is missing in Outlook and you just have to go to tick a box in 'Disabled Items' in Outlook)

All the add-ins are ticked under MindManager Options - though there is no PDF-related one listed....

The PDF printer supplied with MindManager is called PDF-Xchange 3.0.  If installed it will be listed in your printers under Control Panel etc.  It is not an Add-In.

PDF-Xchange 3.0 can only be used with MindManager unless you pay for a licensed version of the PDF printer.

Not bad. Recently I have found this PDF Printer in the net.  It supports  Windows Vista.
