Enter Key Dates
There are some required milestones in a project. The minimum is the start and the finish. These provide the limits to the calculations that JCVGantt will perform for you later. Milestone tasks have no duration, they are a moment in time. In the Task Info pane enter Start date for the Start milestone and/or Due date in the Finish Topic.

If you enter only the start date and not the finish date, the resultant plan will show the earliest completion.

Vice versa and you can see the latest start date.

Enter both and you will see the float (spare time or not) that you have in the project.

Only enter key dates, let JCVGantt calculate the rest. Particularly those that are not under your control e.g. the factory shutdown or the Christmas break or a date the project is dependent on: the arrival of the new project manager.

You may have other milestones in the project such as: order placed, handover to commissioning team, finance available, etc.
